Return to the Family list

Anticyclus pachyamphis (Wieser 1956)

This individual was collected at CIMAR24 station POL2A at a depth of 917 m on the slope of the continental shelf, Los Lagos region. This male specimen more or less matches Wieser’s description. However the buccal cavity of this specimen can not be considered weakly cuticularised, as the plates are clearly visible.

Desmolaimus sp.1.

This individual was collected at CIMAR24 station 70A at a depth of 131 m on the continental shelf, Aysen region. This male specimen matches the genera diagnosis, the buccal cavity is small, with only one cuticular ring. The median subcephalic setae are short and posterior to the amphid. There is a well defined oesophageal bulb with two long cardia. The conical tail is about 4 to 5 a.b.d. with short setae on the ventral side. The spicules are less than one body diameter in length, the gubernaculum has a fenestre in the proximal part and a short (0.5 a.b.d) apophys.

Didelta scutatum

Eleutherolaimus obtusicaudatus

Linhomoeus sp.1.

This individual was collected at CIMAR24 station 45 at a depth of 83 m at the southern end of the Morelada Channel, Aysen region. This juvenile specimen is difficult to identify but it most closely matches Linhomoeus. There is no cuticular striations, the amphid is not visible. The buccal cavity has a wide cup shape with a small dorasal tooth, the buccal cavity is weakly cuticularised. The buccal cavity contains two faint transverse rings, one surrounding the mouth. The oesophagus has no bulb, but does thicken slightly at the posterior end. The cephalic setae are small and indistinct, there does not appear to be any somatic setae. The tail is elongated conical with a rounded tip and a few short subterminal setae.

Metalinhomoeus retrosetosus

Metalinhomoeus sp.1.

This individual was collected at CIMAR24 station Polygon 2B at a depth of 1020 m on the shelf of the continental shelf, Los Lagos region. This specimen is female, the anterior end does not match the description of M. retrosetosus given by Wieser (1956).

Metalinhomoeus sp.2.

This individual was collected at CIMAR24 station 70A at a depth of 131 m on the continental shelf, Aysen region. This female is similar to M. retrosetosus, but the relative positions of the amphid and subcephalic setae are different. In this species the amphid is positioned further back from the anterior end and the subcephalic setae are longer and slightly anterior to the amphids. The tail is fliliform but I estimate it to be twice as long as that of M. retrosetosus, at about 20 a.b.d.

Terschellinga claviger

Terschellinga longicaudata (Wieser 1956)

This individual was collected at CIMAR24 station Polygon 1B at a depth of 1917 m on the slope of the continental shelf, Los Lagos region. This specimen is female and matches Wieser’s description.
