En el caso de nuestro proyecto, lo invitamos Dr. Andreas Schmidt-Rhaesa, de la&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.uni-hamburg.de\/en.html\">University of Hamburg<\/a>, a Chile por una estad\u00eda de dos meses. Este proyecto fue organizado por Dr. Juan Ca\u00f1ete de la&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.umag.cl\/en\/\">Universidad de Magallanes<\/a> en Punta Arenas, con la colaboraci\u00f3n de Dr. Javier Sellanes de la&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucn.cl\">Universidad Cat\u00f3lica del Norte<\/a> en Coquimbo y yo (Dr. Matthew Lee). Aqu\u00ed me concentrar\u00e9 en el trabajo que Andreas y yo hicimos aqu\u00ed en la Regi\u00f3n de Los Lagos.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_994\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-994\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/meiochile.matthewlee.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Andreas.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-994 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/meiochile.matthewlee.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Andreas.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/meiochile.matthewlee.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Andreas.jpg 600w, https:\/\/meiochile.matthewlee.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/Andreas-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-994\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Andreas Schmidt-Rhaesa, University of Hamburg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El Dr. Schmidt-Rhaesa pas\u00f3 las primeras dos semanas de octubre de 2017 aqu\u00ed en Puerto Montt en el <a href=\"http:\/\/www.i-mar.cl\">Centro i~mar<\/a>. Nuestro muestreo fue cualitativo en general y trabajamos con material en vivo con el objetivo de encontrar nuevas especies. Dada la experiencia taxon\u00f3mica de Andreas, nos enfocamos en la fauna de cuerpo blando, particularmente en la Gastrotricha, que s\u00e9 que es diversa y abundante aqu\u00ed en Chile, aunque actualmente no hay art\u00edculos publicados sobre los gastrotrichs chilenos. Durante la estad\u00eda visitamos una variedad de <a href=\"#sites\">h\u00e1bitats<\/a> marinos, incluidos los mareales en Coihuin y Canal Tenglo, el h\u00e1bitat fiordo\/estuarino en <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huinay.cl\">Huinay<\/a> en el fiordo Comau y la costa expuesta en Caleta Estaquilla.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para estudiar la fauna viva aplicamos el m\u00e9todo de <a href=\"http:\/\/meiochile.matthewlee.org\/?page_id=180\">anestesia con cloruro de magnesio isot\u00f3nico<\/a>. Los grupos de fauna que examinamos fueron los <a href=\"#gastrotricha\">Gastrotricha<\/a>, <a href=\"#aceola\">Aceola<\/a>, <a href=\"#turbellaria\">Turbellaria<\/a>, <a href=\"#ciliata\">Ciliata<\/a>, <a href=\"#rotifiera\">Rotifera<\/a>, <a href=\"#kinorhyncha\">Kinorhyncha<\/a>, <a href=\"#tardigrada\">Tardigrada<\/a>, <a href=\"#polychaeta\">Polychaeta<\/a>, <a href=\"#sipuncula\">Sipuncula<\/a>, y algunos <a href=\"#nematoda\">Nematoda<\/a>.&nbsp;Dentro de Gastrotricha encontramos los siguientes g\u00e9neros:&nbsp;<em>Cephalodasys<\/em> (Coihuin), <em>Lepidodasys<\/em> (Coihuin), <em>Macrodasys<\/em> (Coihuin, Canal Tenglo), <em>Mesodasys<\/em> (Canal Tenglo), <em>Tetranchroderma<\/em> (Coihuin), <em>Turbanella<\/em> (Huinay, Caleta Estaquilla) y <em>Xenotrichula<\/em> (Coihuin, Caleta Estaquilla).&nbsp;El <em>Macrodasys<\/em> sp. mostr\u00f3 una variaci\u00f3n considerable en el extremo posterior con respecto al n\u00famero y disposici\u00f3n de los tubos adhesivos. A\u00fan queda por determinar si existe una sola especie de <em>Macrodasys<\/em> con una variaci\u00f3n significativa en la morfolog\u00eda del extremo posterior o un n\u00famero de especies muy similares.&nbsp;La <a href=\"#aceola\">Aceola<\/a> ahora se considera distinta del resto de los gusanos planos (Turbellaria). Encontramos Aceola en Coihuin y Huinay, un video del esp\u00e9cimen de Coihuin est\u00e1 disponible <a href=\"#aceola\">abajo<\/a>. Las <a href=\"#turbellaria\">Turbellaria<\/a> se encontraron en todos los sitios, pero como este grupo tiene que ser estudiado en vivo apenas ara\u00f1amos la superficie de la diversidad presente en la regi\u00f3n. Kalyptorhynchia se encontraron en Coihuin, Canal Tenglo y Huinay. En Caleta Estaquilla, los Otoplanidae fueron los turbellarianos dominantes en la zona de resurgimiento, algo t\u00edpico de las playas de arena expuestas a lo largo de la costa de Chile. Un hallazgo interesante de Huinay fue un &#8220;turbellarian&#8221; con una cola que hasta ahora no hemos podido identificar (ver foto abajo).&nbsp;Los <a href=\"#ciliata\">ciliados<\/a> son extremadamente comunes en sedimentos con una gran diversidad, pero como muchos otros grupos de fauna intersticial, son poco estudiados. Descubrimos que la t\u00e9cnica de hielo de agua de mar funcionaba bien para extraer ciliados, aunque no para la mayor\u00eda de la otra meiofauna.&nbsp;Los <a href=\"#rotifera\">rot\u00edferos<\/a> son bastante raros en los sedimentos marinos, aunque encontramos individuos en Coihuin y Huinay, el video muestra a un miembro del g\u00e9nero <em>Colurela<\/em>.&nbsp;Hay una cantidad de especies de <a href=\"#kinorhyncha\">Kinorhyncha<\/a> en Chile, la m\u00e1s conocida es <em>Cateria styx<\/em>, que se encuentra en playas expuestas a lo largo de la costa chilena. En Coihuin encontramos un solo esp\u00e9cimen de <em>Echinoderes<\/em>.&nbsp;Los <a href=\"#tardigrada\">tard\u00edgrados<\/a> marinos son otro grupo para el cual actualmente no hay art\u00edculos publicados a pesar de ser bastante comunes, la imagen abajo muestra un esp\u00e9cimen de <em>Batillipies<\/em> de Coihuin. Se encontr\u00f3 una gran cantidad de <a href=\"#polychaeta\">poliquetos<\/a> en las muestras que recolectamos.&nbsp;<a href=\"#polychaeta\">Poliquetos<\/a> intersticiales que encontramos incluyen <em>Polygordius<\/em> en Coihuin, Canal Tenglo y Huinay, Nerillidae en Coihuin y Huinay, y <em>Saccocirrus<\/em> y Hesionidae en Caleta Estaquilla. En Huinay, un hallazgo sorprendente en el sedimento submareal fue un <a href=\"#sipuncula\">sipunculo<\/a> de tama\u00f1o meiofaunal. Actualmente, todav\u00eda tenemos que determinar si se trata de una especie de meiofauna genuina o el juvenil de una especie m\u00e1s grande de macrofauna.&nbsp;Finalmente, los <a href=\"#nematoda\">Nematoda<\/a> no fueron el foco de este estudio ya que son uno de los grupos meiofaunales m\u00e1s conocidos en Chile, pero para m\u00ed uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s destacados fue la confirmaci\u00f3n de que un peque\u00f1o gusano que veo con frecuencia es de la familia Persianidae genera <em>Manunema<\/em>. Esto fue gracias a un documento antiguo en alem\u00e1n que Andreas pudo obtener para m\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>Se publicar\u00e1n m\u00e1s descubrimientos y comentarios a medida que se realicen.<\/p>\n<h3><a
