This project incorporates three research cruises. The first on the AGS-61 “Cabo de Hornos” of the Chilean Navy, and the second and third on the Falkor too of the Schmidt Oceanographic Institute.
Cruise 1: Project CIMAR 28 Oceanos “Soft-sediment benthic communities from Chilean oceanic islands and seamounts: biodiversity and ecological connectivity”. Sep 21st – Oct 20th 2023. In collaboration with Dr. Eulogio Soto (Universidad de Valaparaíso) and Dr. Americo Montiel (Universidad de Magallanes).
Cruise 2: “Seamounts of the Southeast Pacific“. Jan 8th – Feb 11th 2024. Expedition Leaders: Dr. Erin Easton (University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley) and Dr. Javier Sellanes (Universidad Católica del Norte). In collaboration with Dr. Eulogio Soto (Universidad de Valaparaíso).
Cruise 3: “Unexplored Seamounts of the Salas y Gómez Ridge“. Feb 24th – Apr 4th 2024. Expedition Leaders: Dr. Erin Easton (University of Texas, Rio Grande Valley) and Dr. Javier Sellanes (Universidad Católica del Norte). In collaboration with Dr. Eulogio Soto (Universidad de Valaparaíso).
